Rapid Action Battalion nabbed four men of a fraud gang who were cheating people in the name of managing quick SMS for COVID-19 vaccination.
RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin confirmed it at a press conference in the capital on Thursday.
They were identified as a Dulal Mia, 37, Nurul Haque, 47, Saiful Islam, 30 and Imran Hossain, 23.
They were arrested from Mugda area of the capital on Wednesday evening.
The suspected criminals were swindling from more than two hundred people alluring them of quickly sending SMS to receive Covid-19 vaccine. They took Tk 2,500-5,000 from each of the victim.
During primarily interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they visit various hospitals and clinics to allure vaccine seekers.
They would sassure the vaccine seekers that they would quickly manage to send SMS to their mobile phone numbers.
Being allured, more than 200 vaccine seekers gave the fraudsters Tk from 2,500 to Tk 5,000 each.
Many of them got SMS of receiving vaccine automatically from the authority. But these frauds took the credits. But who did not get SMS despite giving bribes, lodged complain.
They were very active in Mugda, Shahbagh, Ramna, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Mohakhali and Mirpur areas of the capital Dhaka.
