RAB arrests 3 RNB members for beating Army man

A member of RNB unethically demanded extra money from a member of the army while boarding the train despite having a ticket.  They assaulted a member of the army and a journalist at the Chattogram railway station for protesting this.  RAB-7 arrested three members of Railway Security Force (RNB) accused in this incident.

 RAB-7 Commander Lt. Col MA Yusuf gave such information in a press conference on Friday morning.  Earlier on Thursday afternoon they were arrested in a raid in the Chattogram railway station area.

 The arrested RNB members are Soldier Md. Main Hasan Rakib (23), Liton Chakma (24), Habildar Rabiul Islam (30).

 Prior to this, four RNB members Habildar Md. Rabiul Islam, Sepahi Main Hasan Rakib, Liton Chakma, Yasir Arafat have been temporarily suspended, said Rezwanur Rahman, Commandant of Railway Eastern RNB.

 Captain Lt. Col MA Yusuf said, a soldier arrived at the Chattogram railway station at 10 pm to go to B-Baria by mail train from Chattogram on August 8.  After buying the train ticket and going to board his designated compartment of the Dhaka mail train on the platform, some RNB members on railway security duty asked him to go to any one of the 3 compartments at the front of the train.  At the same time, he told the soldier that he has to pay Tk 300 to get into this compartment.  Besides, the members of RNB threatened and threatened that they will not be able to sit on that seat if they do not pay Tk 300.  At one stage of the conversation, the RNB members abused the army member unfairly and unnecessarily, beat him up abused the army.

 He said that the reporter of an online channel called B-Plus protested the incident and recorded it on his mobile phone.  The video instantly went viral on social media and created a sensation.

After the incident came to light on social media, RAB-7 conducted raids in Dhaka and Chattogram and arrested 3 RNB members.  Those arrested will be charged with bribery, assault, fighting, intent to kill and defamation.
