RAB-7 arrests main accused in Banshkhali twin murders

Md Ismail (28), accused of double murder, has been arrested in a clash between two groups over the drainage pipe of a homestead in Monchuria Bazar area of Banskhali police station.

RAB-7 senior assistant director Md. Nurul Abshar confirmed this information on Tuesday afternoon.  Arrested Md Ismail son of Jahangir Alam in South Jaldi of the same police station.

According to RAB, Abdul Khalek and his nephew Tipu Sultan were brutally hit on the chest, back, lower abdomen and head with a sharp ramdha and iron rod during a clash between two groups over the water drainage pipe of a homestead in Monchuria Bazar area of Banskhali police station on October 20, 2021 afternoon, leaving them in a bloody goes.

Abdul Khalek and Tipu Sultan were seriously injured. As the accused were armed with sharp weapons and fired several blank rounds during the incident, the people in the vicinity did not dare to protest against them out of fear.  Later, Abdul Khalek died on the way to the hospital with serious injuries.  Tipu Sultan also died while undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

The mother of Abdul Khalek, who was killed in this incident, filed a murder case against 10 people and 5 unidentified people at Banshkhali police station.

RAB-7 Md. Nurul Abshar said that RAB-7 continues intelligence surveillance with the aim of arresting the accused of double murder.  At one stage of surveillance, the detectives found out that the accused of the murder, Md. Ismail was staying at the Wedding Park Convention Hall on Tulatli Road of Bakalia Police Station. Md. Ismail was arrested on Monday evening.

He said, Ismail admitted to be the prime accused in the double murder case.  CDMS review includes 2 cases of sabotage and various terrorist activities at Banskhali police station.  The accused has been handed over to the police station for further legal action.
