RAB-7 arrests 5 snatchers of ‘Lal Bahini’

RAB-7 arrested five members of Lal Sumon Bahini while preparing to snatch them from the railway station area under Kotwali police station in Chattogram.  Two sharp knives, marijuana, four mobile phones and cash were recovered from their custody.

 RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Md. Nurul Abshar confirmed the matter on Friday.  Earlier, they were apprehended from the railway station area at 11 pm on Thursday.

 The arrested are: Md. Sumon (24), son of Md. Mashum of Gurai village of Nikli police station of Kishoreganj, Md. Russell (26), son of late Babul of Agargram of Cumilla Debiddar police station, Md. Abdul Hossain Sonon (25), son of Md. Motaleb of Jatrapur village of Muradnagar police station, Tapan Dutta (37), son of late Bimal Dutta of Boalkhali, M Rezaur Rahman (30) son of Ataur Rahman of Lemshikhali village of Kutubdia of Cox's Bazar.

 RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Md. Nurul Abshar said the detainees were active members of the kidnapping gang.  They had gathered for the purpose of looting.  Robbery and looting have been going on for a long time in different areas of Chattogram city including the railway station of the city.  They have no public livelihood.

 He said that they snatched the place of movement of homebound people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. The gang snatched valuables, gold ornaments and cash from pedestrians at gunpoint.  Two knives were seized from them.
