A team of Rapid action battalion (RAB-6), have arrested a drug dealer with 700 pieces of contra banned Yaba pills from Harinakundu upazila in Jhenaidah on Friday morning.
The arrested was identified as Syed Safiqul Islam alias Roni, 40, son of late Abdul Mannan of Shahapur village under Iswardi upazila of Pabna, while his cohorts managed to flee when the RAB men had chased them, said the RAB-6 Company Commander in Jhenaidah.
The RAB sources said they had conducted a drive having information that a gang of drug dealers were staying at Bordah Bazer area of Harinakundu. Sensing the presence of the elite force, a cohort of Syed Safiqul Islam alias Roni managed to flee, while he was caught with 700 pieces of the yaba pills on the spot.
The arrested and the seized items were handed over to Harinakundu police station after filing a case with the police, RAB sources saaid.
