Quader Mirza wins Basurhat municipality election

Abdul Quader Mirza, wide discussed Awami League candidate and also younger brother of Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, has been elected as the mayor of Noakhali's Basurhat municipality elections.

Md Rabiul Alam, returning officer of the election, formally announced the polls results on Saturday evening. 

Quader Mirza bagged 10,738 votes while his rival candidate Mosharraf Hossain got 1,451 votes in the elections and Jamaat-backed independent candidate Maulana Mosharraf Hossain got 1,451 votes.

In his immediate reaction after the victory, Quader Mirza said that it is the victory of democracy and the victory of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Dedicating the victory to leaders and workers of the party, Quader Mirza said he would work to implement all the pledges made to the citizens before the elections.
