PWDs get wheelchairs from divisional commissioner

The people with disabilities (PWDs) in Jhenaidah were given wheel chairs. Khulna divisional commissioner Dr M Anwar Hossain Hawlader distributed the chairs free of cost at a function at DC office premises in Jhenaidah on Monday.

The divisional commissioner in his speech said the government of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been doing anything and everything for the wellbeing of the PWDs throughout the country to bring them in the mainstream development. 

The people with disabilities are no more burden in the family and society as they have potentials and have been playing role in nation development activities abide the ordinary people.

The guardians should take care of their disabled children and not to hide them as they have every rights to grown in the family and society. Saima Wazed Putul, the success daughter of the Prime Minister has been working for the betterment of the PWDs globally restlessly, he added.

Presided over by deputy commissioner (DC) Saroj Kumar Nath, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) general Arif Uz Zaman, deputy director of the department of social welfare Abdul Latif Sheikh, disability affairs officer Bablur Rahman among others remain present.

Deputy Commissioner’s office sources said the divisional commissioner had distributed wheel chairs among 10 persons with disability at different parts in the town. Those were supplied from the disability service and assistance centres in Jhenidah. He also distributed smart white canes and hearing aid materials among a number of PWDs.
