A private university student died after falling off from a building in the capital's Shukrabad area on early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Md Akash, 24, a student of Daffodil University who used to live in a mess beside New Model Degree College in the area. He hailed from Pirgachha upazila of Rangpur.
He completed his honours in Computer Science two months ago from the Daffodil University.
According to Akash’s friend, he jumped from the mess building where he used to live early Wednesday and died on the spot.
According to Pangkaz, another friend of the deceased, they came to know about his death on Wednesday morning. Harpic smell was smelt from his mouth.
“We primarily suspected that he might have committed suicide consuming harpic,” he added.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost in-charge SI Md Bachhu Miah said the body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
No case was filed till filing the report at around 6:45pm.
