Hill students on Saturday protested the rapes of two hill women in Khagrachhari, Rangamati and attempted rape of another woman in Bandarban.
They brought out a protest procession from Rajar Math in Bandarban town under the banner of Sammilita Adivasi Chhatra Samaj at about noon. After parading different important roads, the procession ended at Rajar Math.
The hill students also spoke at a rally at Rajar Math. Hero Kheang, Suinang Khumi, Biton Tanchangya, Danwai Mro, Runle Mro and Uqingwong Marma addressed the rally.
The speakers said that recently, there were incidents of rape in two hilly districts in a few days. Another woman was also tried to be raped in Bandarban district. In the past, such incidents happened again and again due to lack of justice in cases like rape.
Protesting against the incident of rape, the students painted graffiti. They complained that someone removed it.
The speakers also complained that despite the change in the country due to the uprising of the students, dual policy still exists in the hills. Socially and economically, the people in the hills are being discriminated. They alleged that the members of the law enforcement agencies were harassing the students who painted graffiti and were agitating.
