Puja preparation almost complete in B’baria

Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of traditional religions, is going to start in Nabinagar in Brahmanbaria district after a few days. Puja will be held in 133 pavilions in Nabinagar.

Because of that, idol makers in Nabinagar are busy making idols. The puja will begin on the sixth tithi on October 1 and will conclude with the idol immersion on the tenth tithi on October 5. According to the traditional calendar, Mahalaya will be on September 25. So Bodhan Shashti Puja will be held on October 1st Mahasashthi. Mahadasami or Vijay Dashami will be held on October 5. On this day, the ritual of Durga Pujaa will end with the sacrifice of idols.

Visiting the various puja Mandaps of the upazila, one can see that the idol artisans are busy day and night making idols of Goddess Durga made with artistic touches of mud, soil, bamboo straw. Manendra Pal (55), an idol maker, said that every year I work on 50-55 Puja Mandaps this year I have done only 40 Puja Mandaps. 

The price of each idol is asking 45/50 thousand Tk but there are no buyers like in the past, the same thing is said by various artists who came to work on making the idols of the Puja Mandap. The OC of Nabinagar police station said that there will be strict security in the Puja Mandaps. No disorder will be allowed to happen anywhere.

Upazila District Officer Ekramul Siddique said that measures will be taken according to the instructions from the center to hold the upcoming autumn Durga Puja without any delay.
