Public transport to run on previous fare from Sept.-1

All pubilc transports will once again run on the prvious fare under certain terms and conditions, informed Obaidul Quader, Minister for Road Trasnport and Bridges while exchanging views with the officials of BRTA and BRTC of Dhaka zone through video conference from his house on Saturday morning. 

He said, ' Cosidering public interest and the prevailing situation, decision has been taken to run the public transport on previous fare under certain terms and conditions from September-1.'

Obaidul Quader said, the terms include, mandatory wearing of masks for 100 percent passengers, no passenger will be allowed to travel by standing on the vehicle and passengers will travel by sitting on the seats.  he also directed the authorities of BRTA to announce the new decision through advertisement and to accelerated regular activities against the violators of the rules.

It is learnt, the government suspended the movement of all public transport to resist the Corona pandemic. Later on May-31, permission was given to resume operation of the public vehicles by maintaining health rules from May-31. The fare of vehicles was then increased to 60 per cent than the previous rate.
