People are getting benefits of the 'one-stop service' of the Consular and Welfare wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

About 25,000 service seekers received different types of services in a week, said the foreign ministry's spokesperson Seheli Sabrin at the weekly media briefing on Thursday.

The foreign ministry has recently introduced one-stop service at the consular wing.

Officials of the wing stay at the delivery counter and complete the attestation of documents on the spot.

"For that reason, the service seekers get their service easily in a short period of time," she said, while explaining the reason.

In the consular wing, service seekers used to deposit their documents in the morning and collect those in the afternoon after attestation.

After the introduction of one-stop service, they get it within 30 minutes maximum, Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur, director general of the consular wing, told Bangladesh Post.

"Sometimes it takes 10 minutes when there is less crowd. They can get it done soon after their submission of documents. They don't need to return."

"We have already taken plans to modernise this further," he said, adding that in the next two to three months, more improvements would be done in the service.

The spokesperson, Sabrin, also shared Bangladesh's election unanimously as a member of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) during the briefing.

She also highlighted the issues related to the UN water conference held in New York from March 22 to March 28.  Bangladesh was elected vice-president from the Asia-pacific region at the conference.

Bangladesh also hosted an event titled 'Water for Peace: From Source to Sea' on the sidelines.
