Staring down the barrel of elimination in the Champions League, holders Bayern Munich will endeavour to overturn a 3-2 deficit from the first leg of their quarter-final with Paris Saint-Germain when they do battle in the French capital on Tuesday.

An enthralling five-goal encounter at the Allianz Arena ended with Mauricio Pochettino's side claiming a slender lead at half time in the tie, and the two continental giants head into the game following differing fortunes in their domestic title defences.

PSG’s Marquinhos's evening in Munich ended two minutes after he struck PSG's second goal, and with the Brazilian defender thought to have suffered a partial adductor tear, his chances of recovering for Tuesday are extremely slim.

It remains to be seen if Mauro Icardi or Layvin Kurzawa will be passed fit for the second leg as they aim to shake off thigh and calf problems respectively, and Keylor Navas had to be replaced at half time against Strasbourg due to a reported muscular issue, and the loss of the in-form Costa Rican would be a devastating blow for the hosts.

However, there is nothing to suggest that Navas will not be involved at the time of writing, while Neymar will return to the first XI amid his domestic ban.

For Bayern, There was initial optimism over Lewandowski's availability for the second leg, but the prolific Pole has confirmed that he will not be ready for the trip to Paris, so Choupo-Moting will continue to lead the line.

The fates of teams gone by also spells danger for the visitors, as out of the 50 most recent clubs to lose a first leg of a Champions League knockout tie at home, only three have managed to progress, so Flick and his depleted champions will be battling injuries, history and two of Europe's most coveted attackers as they do their utmost to defy the odds at the Parc des Princes.
