PSE-NPS 2020 Summit ends at KU

A three-day Physiochemical Society of Europe -Natural Products Scientists (PSE-NPS) – 2020 summit ends today at Journalist Liakat Ali Auditorium of Khulna University (KU). The Physiochemical Society of Europe (PSE) organized the summit in association with the Pharmacy Discipline of Khulna University.

The summit focused on “Natural products for healthy living” to explore the prospects and challenges associated with research in natural products and dietary nutrition for the well-being of the society and the nation. Organizers said NPS members comprising prominent scientists, noted educationists, researchers, academics, nutritionists, doctors, entrepreneurs and traditional health practitioners from abroad attended the summit.

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukder Abdul Khaleque was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of PSE-NPS 2020 summit while Chief Patron of the conference and Vice Chancellor of KU Professor Mohammad Fayek Uzzaman presided the meeting held on Thursday. President of PSE-NPS 2020 summit and Head of the Pharmacy Discipline of KU Professor Ashish Kumar Das gave the welcome speech in the inaugural session of the summit.

Director General of Directorate of the Drug Administration Major General Mahbubur Rahman, Treasurer of KU Sadhan Ranjan Ghosh, Dean of the Life Science School of KU Professor Raihan Ali and Director of School of Pharmacy and Bimolecular Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom Professor Sattya Sarker all addressed the summit as special guests.

The scope and impact of natural products will be greatly increased by conducting research on different areas and continue to expand by providing opportunities for new discoveries for dissemination of high quality work in this field. The chief guest expressed hope to bring together scientists of all ages to provide an excellent platform for discussion and dissemination of knowledge about recent advancement and future prospect of natural products for human well-being.

The topic includes isolation, identification and assessment of bioactive plant secondary metabolites and various food supplements in the context of prevention and cure of diseases. In addition, this conference will provide an excellent opportunity to meet natural product experts around the globe to share ideas, learn current trends and explore possible collaborations with natural product scientists, nutritionists, medicinal chemists, herbal practitioners, formulation scientists and other related colleagues from both academia and industries.

A large number students of pharmacy discipline of KU, teachers, civil society members, officials of local government bodies, among others, also participated in the summit.
