Speakers and resource persons of an event have emphasized on creating awareness among the young generation so that they can be aware of their respective surroundings on the modern devices.
They said that the role of the youths is very important towards ensuring security in social media as they are the lion part of the social media and internet users.
They made the observation at a daylong Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Innovation and Job Fair held at Rajshahi University on Sunday.
On behalf of its 'Mobile Game and Apps Skill Development Project', ICT Division of the government organized the fair titled "Mobile Apps, Games and Job Festival 2023 at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium.
RU Pro-vice-chancellor Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam addressed the opening ceremony as chief guest, while Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council Ranajit Kumar and Vice-chancellor of Varendra University Prof Osman Gani Talukder spoke as special guests with Director of the project Anwar Hossain in the chair.
Prof Omor Faruque of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at RU, Chief Executive Officer of Team Associates Pulok Raha and Founder of Yes Foundation Rahat Hossain spoke on the occasion as resource persons disseminating their expertise on the issue.
Video and animation films were screened at the event participated by 20 famous ICT institutions.
On the occasion, the participants were given ideas and knowledge on how they can contribute to the society through making and uploading positive contents in social media.
They were also provided information related to the safe use of the internet, the diverse use of social media, how to stay safe from cyber bullying and the importance of positive content through interactive sessions.
Apart from this, they were educated about many dangers like- hacking, predation, radicalization, hate speech, scaremongering and the required steps to be taken to save themselves from such risks.
