Proper e-waste recycling can reduce environmental impacts

Symphony Mobile started e-waste management

All types of e-waste including mobile e-waste should be recycled properly as it has numerous impacts on environment and human health. 

To keep the country’s future generation e-waste threats free, everyone should come forward in proper e-waste management.   

Senior Assistant Director, Spectrum Division Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Muhammad Zakaria Bhuiyan as chief guest said this at an e-waste handover program organized by Symphony Mobile at Ashulia recently. 

Symphony Mobile signed an agreement with JR Recycling Solutions Limited for recycling of e-wastage last November.  Under the agreement, Zakaria Shahid, Managing Director of Symphony Mobile handed over about 2,000 kg of e-waste to MA Hossain Jewel, Managing Director, JR Recycling Solutions Limited. 

Muhammad Zakaria Bhuiyan said that, “E-waste is one of the major problems in the world today, which could harm our future generations. I urged all concerned to come 

forward for the proper management of not only e-waste generated through mobile phones but also all types of e-waste”. 

Thanking Symphony and JR Recycling Solutions Ltd. for their joint initiative in e-waste management he further said that, “In the case of e-waste management created through telecom equipment, the overall cooperation from the regulatory body of the country’s telecom sector BTRC will be continued by the appropriate rules”. 

He added that, “To save the environment, there is no alternative to e-waste management as well as its recycling”.  

Symphony mobile managing director Zakaria Shahid said, “Symphony has taken many new initiatives in Bangladesh, and in its, continuation Symphony has given birth to new milestones”.

Expressing gratitude to BTRC he also added that, “As part of its social responsibility, Symphony Mobile will now make arrangements for all dealers and retailers to deposit ruined phones that no one else uses and also collect abolition phones from those working at Symphony Mobile”.

During the handover of e-waste, managing director of JR Recycling Solutions Limited MA Hossain Jewel said that, “Symphony Mobile was the first mobile brand in Bangladesh to be involved in e-waste recycling. Now many companies have started approaching us but Symphony has come forward to recycle e-wastage properly”.
