Promotion of CoU teachers demanded

The teachers’ association of the Comilla University (CoU) has applied to the registrar of the university for implementation and regularization within next seven days through the next syndicate meeting as per the government rules of the grade-2 and grade-1 professors among the professors of Comilla University.

On Wednesday (February 28), the matter is known from the letter given to the university registrar's office signed by the president of the teacher's association, Professor Dr. Md. Abu Taher and General Secretary Mehedi Hasan.

According to the letter, according to the official notification of the Ministry of Finance and the memorandum of the Ministry of Education, the Vice-Chancellor of the University has illegally stopped the recruitment process for two years for the posts applied for Grade-2 and Grade-1 professor posts by the government. Moreover, no initiative was taken regarding promotion.

The letter also reveals that the teachers feel that the higher authorities of the university are deliberately vindictive and unprofessional and not taking proper action in this regard. Which as a whole is an obstacle to the education, research and human resource development of the university and includes insulting the instructions of the government and is also an anti-state crime.

Mehdi Hasan said, 'The promotion of teachers is a common provision, besides, there is a notification of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education in this regard. But our university administration has stopped the process illegally and by abuse of power.

The main problem is that if you do not go to grade 1 and grade 2, the professional status is being undermined. Moreover, if the professors do not get the position, the human resource space of Comilla University is decreasing.'

Wanted to speak to the vice chancellor regarding this, he could not be reached on the phone.
