A programming competition was organized at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) in memory of Abu Sayed, who lost his life in the students' movement in Rangpur. The event took place on Saturday, at 1 pm, and was inaugurated by the university’s student advisor, Dr. Elias Pramanik.
A total of 31 teams from various public and private universities across Rangpur division, including BRUR, Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology, and Rangpur Engineering College, participated in the competition.
Rishad Noor, a student from the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department, shared his thoughts on the event, saying that it gave them an opportunity to showcase their creativity and represent their university. He added that the competition reflected the spirit of self-sacrifice that Abu Sayed embodied.
Another student from Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology praised the initiative, expressing hope that it would continue in the future. The student felt that such events foster a competitive learning environment and inspire research.
Dr. Ilyas Pramanik, head of the CSE department and student advisor, said that this was the first time BRUR had organized such an event. He highlighted that Abu Sayed’s memory and dedication had inspired the university’s new journey since 2024. He also expressed hope that such competitions would promote the practice of knowledge and science at the university.
The competition is expected to generate interest in programming among young people and help brand BRUR and Abu Sayed’s legacy both nationally and internationally.
