Prof Humayun Kabir made RU pro-VC

Rajshahi University (RU) Accounting and Information Systems department Prof Humayun Kabir has been appointed as new pro-vice-chancellor of the university for the next four academic years.

 A notification signed by the deputy secretary of the Ministry of Education Mst Roksana Begum confirmed the appointment yesterday (Tuesday).

 Prof Humayun Kabir of the Accounting and Information Systems department of Rajshahi University has been appointed pro-vice-chancellor of the University for the next four years as per Section 13 (1) of Rajshahi University Act-1973 with the approval of the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and chancellor of the university, stated the notification.

 The notice also says, “His tenure will expire after four academic years of the appointment. He will be provided the same salary as his current position and facilities according to the pro-VC post. He will perform his duty as per the rules and regulations of the university. The president of the people’s republic of Bangladesh and chancellor of the university can cancel his post at any time.”

 While asked, the newly appointed pro-vice-chancellor said Prof Humayun Kabir said, “I have received a letter in this regard. I will try to perform the responsibility properly given to me by the Ministry of Education of the Government of Bangladesh and His Excellency the President.”

 Contextually, on July 17, the former pro-vice-chancellor of the university, Prof Chowdhury M Zakaria's post became vacant as his tenure expired. Prof Humayun Kabir has been appointed yesterday (Tuesday) after being vacant the post for three and a half months.
