Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities on Wednesday appointed Professor Dr Esrafil Ahmed as the new Chairman of Drama and Dramatics department of the university.
A press release signed by JU Acting Director of the Public Relations Office Dr. Mohiuddin confirmed it on Thursday. Prof. Esrafil completed graduation and post-graduation from Drama and Dramatics department of JU. Later, he completed another post-graduation degree from Rabindra Bharti University, India. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in 2009 from Jahangirnagar University.
Dr. Esrafil started his teaching career joining JU as a lecturer in 2010. He was promoted to assistant professor and associate professor in 2011 and 2014 respectively. In 2019, he was promoted to professor of the department.He has a book on mime and published 20 research articles in national and international journals. Under his direction, 25 plays have been staged. Moreover, he's also performed in 29 dramas.
Mentionable, Prof. Esrafil is the chairman of the Bangladesh Mime Federation (BMF).
