Committee of theProducers' Association was abolished in the wake of Zayed Khan's allegations.
The present committee of the Bangladesh Producers and Distributors Association has been dissolved after the allegations were proved illegal by the inquiry committee.
This committee came to power through the elections held in 2019-21. As the committee was dissolved, a deputy secretary of the commerce ministry was appointed as administrator.
At the same time, the suspension of Zayed Khan's membership has been declared illegal and he has been instructed not to be prevented from carrying out his normal activities as an ordinary member.
This information was given by the Ministry of Commerce in two separate notifications on Monday, November 16.
The circular said that Bangladesh Producers and Distributors Association is a trade organization licensed by the Ministry of Commerce under the Trade Organization Ordinance 1961. Zayed Khan, the proprietor of ZK Movies and general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association, has lodged a written complaint to the Commerce Ministry against the irregularities in the 2019-2021 elections. The ministry formed a committee and assigned a deputy secretary to investigate. That investigation has found the truth of Zayed Khan's allegation.
The investigation clearly proved that four producer leaders, including Khorshed Alam Khasru, the president of the association and the former president of the producers' association, took part in the elections held on July 27 last year by illegally hiding information despite the High Court's ban. For this the committee of producers and environment association has been dissolved.
Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce KhandakerNurulHaque has been appointed as the administrator to keep the association active.
At the same time, it has been said in the notification that the election will be held within 120 days.
In another circular, the probe committee found evidence that Zayed Khan, the filmmaker and ZK, had illegally suspended the post of movie captain. Zayed Khan has been instructed to run normal activities and not to be hindered in his performance.
