Locals formed a human chain in front of Munshiganj Press Club on Monday demanding trial of housewife Kanika Akhter Riya's alleged murder.
Although, three days have passed since the incident police could not arrest any accused in this case. Therefore, locals along with the victim’s father Md. Masud Mijhi formed the human chain. Later, a memorandum was submitted to Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police.
Notably, on December 31, Riya’s hanging body was found inside her bathroom in her in-law’s house. Riya’s family claimed that Riya was murdered by her in-laws as allegedly they used to torture her for dowry.
Riya’s father filed a case with Munshiganj police station accusing 5 people in this regard.
Locals demanded exemplary punishment by bringing the accused under the law at the time.
Participants of the human chain claimed the housewife war murdered and demanded proper investigation into the housewife mysterious death.
