Probarona Purnima festivities end today in Bandarban

‘Probarona Purnima’, one of the grand religious festivals of the Buddhist community, started with due solemnity and fervour in Bandarban.

In observance with various religious rituals, the Probarona Purnima festival will be concluded with the immersion of the Ratha in the Sangu river at the midnight of Monday (today).

 In observance of the festivities of the Probarona Purnima, traditional, colurful sky lanterns (Konming Chinese Lantern or Fanush) were released in the sky, Rath Yatra was held and a cultural function was organised at the Rajar Math (King's play ground) of Bandarban on Saturday evening. 

Chairman of Banderban Parbatya Zila Parishad Kehsoihla inaugurated the festivals of the Probarona Purnima as the chief guest by pulling rope of the Ratha. Later on, sky lanterns of various colours were released in the sky.

A cultural function organised by Bandarban Khudro Nri-Gosthi Cultural Institute was later on arranged where renowned aboriginal artists including Marma artists rendered songs in Bangla, Hindi and Marma languages. The function was attended, among others, by Banderban HT Zila Parishad Kehsoihla, Banderban Sadar Upazila Chairman AKM Zahangir, Member of Hill Tracts District Parishad Sing Yong Mro, Director of Khudra Nri-Gosthi Cultural Institute Manu Ching and other government and private enterprises officials.
