Prime suspect in IU student murder arrested

Police arrested the prime suspected killer of Islamic University (IU) student Ulfat Ara Tinnin from Magura town after six days of the killing incident. 

The arrested was Jamirul Joarder of Sheikhpara village, adjacent to the IU campus, said superintendent of police (SP) Muntasirul Islam at a press briefing at his office on Wednesday.

The family members of Ulfat Ara Tinni had rescued from a ceiling fan when she was hanging in the midnight of October 1. Later the family members had sent her to Kushtia general hospital for treatment, while she succumbs there in the midnight.

Tinni’s mother Halima Khatun, a widow of an Army personnel, also a bonafide freedom fighter filed a case against eight persons with Shailkupa police station on October 2. She stated Jamirul, the ex husband of Minni and seven others had allegedly entered in to their house at Sheikhpara Bazer under Shailkupa upazila and tortured Tinni’s elder sister Minni. They had vandalized households in the night of 

The gang also appeared there and went at the second stair where Tinni was staying. They left the house within a few minutes. After a while the family members called Tinni to join them on the ground floor, but having no respond they went to her room and found Tinni was hanging with her ceiling fan.

Huge protests were demonstrated and the police arrested four of the suspected accused while the prime was arrested from Magura town where he was hiding for last six days, SP said.
