RAB-1 has arrested Arif alias Sabuj, the main accused in the sensational Class Seven girl gang rape case in Salna of Gazipur city. He was arrested from Telipara area under Basan police station on Friday
afternoon.
The arrested accused Arif alias Sabuj (28) is the son of late Khorshed Alam of Barurajani area of Nalitabari police station in Sherpur district. He is the tenant of Jamal Mandal's house in Teknagarpara area of the metropolis. He is a garage mechanic by profession.
Company Commander Lt. Commander Abdullah Al Mamun of Gazipur Porabari Camp said in a press release this morning that Arif alias Sabuj, the main accused in the 8th class gang rape case, was arrested in a raid in Telipara area under Basan.
On October 1, a 14-year-old student of class 7 in Salna area of Gazipur city was abducted on her way home from Khabar Hotel. Later in the morning, the rapists tied the girl with her hands, legs and rope with the intention of killing her.
Later, when the tenants of the house next door informed her family about her moaning, the girl was rescued unconscious the next day and was admitted to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital with the help of locals. On October 2, the student's mother filed a gang-rape case with the Gazipur Metro Sadar Police Station.
He further said that the RAB is continuing its operation to arrest the other fugitive accused in the case. Arrangements are underway to hand over the arrested accused to the police station.
