The prices of beef, chicken, eggs and onions have gone up in the market during the week. However, prices of vegetables are relatively stable except for one or two vegetables due to adequate supply in the market at the end of winter.
The prices of other groceries including rice, lentil, and oil are also hitting the pockets of consumers.
The situation has been observed after visiting a good number of kitchen markets in the capital on Friday.
Beef is being sold at Tk 640 -650 per kg which was being sold at 600-620 per kg last week.
The price of broiler has come down while the price of Sonali chicken has gone up.
Broiler chickens are being sold at Tk 160-165 per kg, which was sold at Tk 170-175 last week. The price of Sonali chicken has gone up to Tk 290-320 per kg from Tk 260-290 last week. Layer chicken is being sold at Tk 240-250 per kg up with an increase of Tk 10-20.
The price of onion has gone up. Local onions are being sold at Tk 50-55 per kg. Last week, onions were sold at Tk 40-45 per kg.
Indian onions are being sold at Tk 60 per kg. Last week, the price of Indian onion was Tk 55 per kg.
Dozens of red eggs are being sold at Tk 115-120. Dozens of duck eggs are being sold at Tk 195. Dozens of local chicken eggs are being sold at Tk 210. Dozens of Sonali chicken eggs are being sold at Tk 180.
Prices of most vegetables in the market have remain unchanged throughout the week.
Per kg tomato is being sold at Tk 40-60, yardlong bean at Tk 100, beans at Tk 60-70, brinjal at Tk 50-70, bitter gourd at Tk 80, carrot at Tk 40, pumpkin at Tk 40, radish at Tk 30-40 and snake gourd at Tk 50.
A large size cauliflower and cabbage is being sold at Tk 30-40 per piece, and gourd at Tk 50.
New and old Potatoes are being sold at Tk 10-20 per kg in markets. Green chillies are being sold at Tk 80 per kg.
Green bananas are being sold at Tk 40 per four pieces, per kg papaya at Tk 50-55 and cucumber at Tk 80 and per four pieces lemon is being sold at Tk 20.
Dried chilies are being sold at Tk 150 to Tk 250 per kg, garlic at Tk 80-130, ginger at Tk 140 and turmeric at Tk 160 to Tk 220 per kg. Besides, Indian lentils are being sold at Tk 90-95 per kg and local lentils at Tk 110-115 per kg.
Per liter edible oil is being sold at Tk 160-165. Sugar is being sold at Tk 80 per kg. Besides, packets of sugar are being sold at Tk 85 per kg.
