In Dinajpur, commodity prices are on fire. Expenses are increasing and income is decreasing. Due to the gradual increase in the prices of all things, many people are changing their profession. Even though there are two mobile courts, the syndicates have raised the prices of everything as before.

13 police stations, including Dinajpur Sadar, have seen a rise of prices in the market of daily necessities in the last two weeks. The prices of these products are increasing rapidly with the recent rise in oil prices. Unemployed common people including the middle class of the society are struggling to meet the needs of the family. On Wednesday, it was seen that the price of chicken eggs in various shops and bazaars of the Upazila has decreased from 50 taka to 40 taka in the retail and wholesale markets, but the price of duck eggs has increased from 16 taka to 23 taka. Also, in the open market last two weeks ago, Swarna-5 rice has increased from 52 to 55 taka per kg, Katari bhog from 62 taka to 65 taka, cumin has increased from 55 taka to 65 taka, sugar from Tk 80 to Tk 90 and the list goes on, locals complained.

On the other hand, an artificial shortage of soybean oil has been 'created' in most grocery stores in the market. Most store racks are empty. Oil is available in small quantity but no oil of any other company including Rupchanda and Bashundhara is available. Talking to the local grocers, it is known that oil is not available in the wholesale market due to rumors that the price of soybean oil will increase. Oil will be available at new prices from next week. So dealers are also not giving any oil. Recently, with the increase in petrol, the vegetable and raw materials market has also been affected. Dry chillies have increased from Tk 280 to Tk 450, garlic from Tk 70 to Tk 80, cucumber from Tk 30 to Tk 70, 'Kachurbai' Tk 30 to Tk 40, lemon juice has increased from Tk 15 to Tk 20 depending on the size.

Chicken meat also caught fire in the market. Poultry chicken has increased from Tk 120 to Tk 175, country chicken price has increased from Tk 320 to Tk 340, Pakistani cock chicken has been sold at Tk 250 to Tk 280.

However, the price of green chillies has been reduced from 250 to 80 taka per kg, potal from 40 taka to 30 taka, bitter gourd from 80 taka to 60 taka, radish from 60 to 40 taka, garlic from 80 to 70 taka, Indian onion from 40 taka and desi onion from 35 to 50 taka, ginger. 160 taka; Which was seen to be sold at the previous price. Yunus Ali, a local van driver, said that he cannot buy fish and meat for his family. When I went to buy chicken eggs in the market, I bought two eggs that were overpriced.

Another buyer Elias said that most of the grocers in the market have stocked soybean oil to gain more profit, so there is a crisis in the market. Due to the lack of supervision by the administration, unscrupulous traders are taking advantage of the opportunity to cut the pockets of ordinary buyers.

Local grocer Tariqul claimed that they did not keep any oil in stock. As the prices of all products have increased in the wholesale market, they have to sell at a higher price to the customers.

When asked about the increase in the price of eggs, the grocer Salim said that on the one hand the price of chicken food has increased, on the other hand the price of eggs has been increased through the syndicate.

Dealer Farid said, there is no shortage of Roopchanda oil in the market. A shortage of Roopchanda oil has arisen as some traders have stockpiled after hearing about the rise in prices.
