Preparatory meeting held to mark National Mourning Day in Narail

Elaborate programmes have been taken to observe the National Mourning Day-2023 and 48th martyrdom anniversary of the Architect of Independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Narail district on August 15.

Narail district administration chalked out the daylong programmes marking the day at a preparatory meeting held today at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) with DC Ashfakul Haque Chowdhury in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Fakrul Hasan, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Moha­mmad Zubair Hossain Chowdhury, Additional Superinten­dent of Police Tarek Al Mehdi, Commandant of District Ansar and VDP Bikash Chandra Das, District Education Officer Md. Jahangir Alam, Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation Mizanur Rahman, Former President of Sadar Upazila Freedom Fighters Command Bir Muktijoddha S.A. Baki, Bir Muktijoddha Saifur Rahman Hilu, President of Narail Press Club Enamul Kabir Tuku, President of Narail Chamber of Commerce Mohammad Hasanuzzaman, Vice-Chairman of Narail Sadar Upazila Parishad and General Secretary of District Women's Awami League Ismat Ara, officials of various government departments, brave freedom fighters, teachers of 

educational institutions, political and social leaders, among others, were present.

The programmes include hoisting of national flag at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings, discussion meetings, placing wreaths at the monument of Bangabandhu, and screening of film and documentary on the life and works of Bangabandhu and offering special prayer and doa-mahfil at all religious institutions.

Officials and employees of different government and semi-government organisations will bring out mourning rallies and place wreaths at Bangabandhu Mural at Old Bus Terminal in Narail city.

Apart from this, writing and painting competitions, poetry recitations, hymns, discussion and prayer will be held in various educational institutions. Qurankhani, prayer and discussion meetings in different madrasas, mosques and orphanages and special prayers will be held in various temples.

On the occasion of National Mourning Day, writing, drawing competition, discussion meeting and prayer will be held at Narail Shishu Parivar on August 12 at 10 am, Bangabandhu's March 7 speech and drawing competition on Bangabandhu's portrait will be held at District Children's Academy on August 14.
