Preparatory meeting for Amar Ekushey held at DU

To observe the 'Amar Ekushey February and International Mother Language Day' smoothly and peacefully, a preparatory meeting was held at Dhaka University (DU) Senate Building on Thursday with its Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

The meeting was attended by DU Treasurer Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin, Senate-Syndicate Member, Registrar Md Enamuzzaman, President of DU Teachers Association (DUTA) Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal and General Secretary Dr Md Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, deans of different faculties, provosts of the halls, chairmen of various departments, directors of different institutes, representatives of teachers and leaders of officials.

At the beginning of the meeting, a minute of silence was observed in honour of the memory of the martyrs. Professor Akhtaruzzaman said Ekushey February is a symbol of our national consciousness.  He sought the cooperation of all concerned for smooth and successful implementation of all the programmes adopted by the Coordination Committee in interest of maintaining the reputation of Dhaka University.

Dean of the Earth and Environmental Sciences faculty and President of DUTA, Professor Maqsood Kamal was made coordinator while Vice-President of the association Professor Md Lutfar Rahman and General Secretary Professor Md Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan were made joint coordinator and Proctor Professor AKM Ghulam Rabbani was made a member-secretary to the Central Coordination Committee to observe the programmes of Ekushey February in a befitting manner.

In addition to the central coordination committee, 12 sub-committees were formed to celebrate International Mother Language Day in a peaceful manner.
