A preparatory meeting for observing Martyred Day and Victory Day was held at Deputy Commissioner Conference Room on Wednesday.
The meeting was presided over by DC Dr. Kichinjer Chakma while Superintendent of Police RM Faijur Rahman was present as guest. Additional Superintendent of police (admin) and Zela parishad chairman Mahfuzur Rahman attended at the meeting.
The programmes will include hoisting of national flag, placing wreaths at the monument of independence war, discussion meetings, rallies, cultural functions, painting competition and supplying improve diet in hospitals and jail.
Freedom fighters, members of business organisations, Officers of different offices, representatives of socio-organisations and journalists took part at the meeting and discussed on the issues.
BSS from Panchagarh adds: A preparation meeting on 16th December- Victory Day, 9th December Debiganj Free Day and 14th December Martyred Intellectuals Day was held at upazila parished hall in Debiganj upazila of the district on Wednesday.
Various programmes have been chalked out in the meeting to observe the separate days. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Debiganj Md Sariful Alam was in the chair.
Debiganj Upazila Chairman Abdul Malek Chistee attended the meeting as chief guest.
Municipality Mayor Abu Bakar Siddik , freedom fighters Commander A.K. Vauia , former commander of the freedom fighters council Sowadesh Chandra, former upazila Awami League president A.S.M. Nuruzzaman , school teacher Sabbir Hossein and others gave their respective opinions to observed those days.
Government officials, political leaders, school teachers, NGO representatives and local elites were present in the meeting.
