A preparatory progress review meeting has been held in Gopalganj on observing the National Mourning Day on August 15.
Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Shahida Sultana presided over the meeting organized by Gopalganj District Administration at 10 am on Thursday (August 12) in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner.
District Police Superintendent Ayesha Siddiqa, Awami League General Secretary Mahbub Ali Khan, Municipal Mayor Kazi Liakat Ali, Tungipara Upazila Chairman Md Solaiman Biswas, Municipal Mayor Sheikh Tozammel Haque Tutul, Local Government Deputy Director Ariful Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md Usman Gani, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) and other officials and their representatives were present.
District Superintendent of Police Ayesha Siddiqa told that the district law enforcement agencies have already completed all the preparations for observing August 15. Overall security measures have been strengthened. Besides, members of other forces including RAB, Ansar and VDP are also active.
Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Shahida Sultana said all preparations are underway at the premises of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s mausoleum in Tungipara under the overall supervision of the district administration on the occasion.
All activities will be conducted in accordance with the complete hygiene rules considering the Corona (Covid-19) epidemic. He sought the overall support of all for the observance of National Mourning Day in a smooth and peaceful manner, She added.
