Rampal thana police have arrested the mother-in-law and the husband of a pregnant housewife for hacking and injuring her fatally at Ransen area under Rampal upazila of Bagerhat district on Monday (14 December) night.
The injured housewife was identified as Sadia Akhter Munni and her husband is Ashikur Rahman Sohan (30) and the mother-in-law is Tahmina Begum (50).
Housewife Sadia Akhter Munni filed a case accusing six persons including her husband and the mother-in-law.
It is learnt, Sadia Akhter Manni was married to Ashikur Rahman Sohan of village Ronsen of Rampal upazila January-6 this year. Three-month after her marriage, she could learn that her mother-in-law was engaged in extra-marital affairs.
She informed the incident to her husband when her husband and mother-in-law start to torture her. As a result, parents of Manni appealed to the Legal Aid Centre at Bagerhat demanding justice where her husband said he will not a maintain relationship with his wife. On December-9 evening her husband with some of his friends came to Manni's house and hacked her on the head with a sharp weapon and managed to escape. Eight months' pregnant housewife Manni was then admitted to hospital.
Monjurul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Rampal police station informed, being tortured by her husband, housewife Sadia Akhter Manni has filed a case with Rampal Police station. He further mentioned, two accuse of the case have been arrested and police were trying to arrest others.
