Prayer held on NSTU teacher’s death

A special prayer ceremony was held for Arpita Roy, Assistant Professor of the Department of Microbiology at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) on marking her untimely death in New Zealand on last Sunday (September 12) night.

The prayer ceremony was held on Wednesday (15 September), on the university campus. 

The programme was conducted by Director (Acting) of Student Counseling and Guidance Biplob Mallick. NSTU Pro VC Prof Dr Mohammad Abdul Baki,Treasurer Dr Mohammed Faruque Uddin were present as guests. 

Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences Dr Dibyadyuti Sarkar, Director of IIS Professor Dr Firoz Ahmed, Deputy Registrar Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Members of teachers’ association, members of officers’ association, deans of different institutes, hall provosts and officials were also present at the programme.

At this time, NSTU Pro VC said, “With the death of Arpita, we lost a good hearted person and a talented teacher. If she were alive, she could have served a lot to the country and the nation.” The Pro VC also expressed his deepest condolences and prayed for the salvation of her soul.

It is to be mentioned that, Arpita Roy died in a hospital of New Zealand as she was doing her PhD from the University of Otago in New Zealand since 2019.
