Prabarana Purnima, one of the religious festivals of Buddhists, has been celebrated in Kuakata Upazila of Patuakhali district. The Buddhists devotees of Kuakata celebrated the day in a festive atmosphere.
Sunday morning starts the day auspiciously with prayer and Buddha Puja. After that a religious discussion was held in the Buddhist monastery. At this time, the elderly men and women gave different fruits to the Buddhist monks in remembrance of the Buddha.
The ceremony of this festival ends with the flying of hundreds of lanterns in the sky of Kuakata on Sunday evening. Apart from this, people of all religions participate in this universal festival in all the Rakhine neighborhoods of the district including Amkholapara, Mistripara, Kalachanpara and Nayapara of Mohipur.
Around this festival, the Buddhists in the Rakhine neighborhoods of the upazila rejoice. Buddhist monks and thousands of Rakhine people gather in Buddhist monasteries. This festive atmosphere has added a new level of joy among the tourists.
