‘Power distribution system needs to be modernised’

The power distribution system needs to be further modernised using modern technology to ensure uninterrupted power supply by preventing its wastage.

Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Energy adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while unveiling of DPDC's special publication "Oporajeo (Unbeatable)" on the occasion of ‘Mujib Barsho’ and the golden jubilee of independence.

Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) arranged the event in its conference room at Bidyut Bhaban in the capital on Wednesday. 

Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury was the chief guest while DPDC Managing Director Engineer Bikash Dewan presided over the function.

The energy adviser emphasised on smart grid and expressed satisfaction over the various development activities of DPDC and expressed the hope that it would continue. 

Appreciating the progress of DPDC, Md Habibur Rahman, Secretary of Power Division, said that DPDC was far ahead of other agencies in the power sector in modernising the customer service and distribution system. 

Among others, Satyajit Karmakar, Chairman of Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (BEPRC) also spoke at the event. DPDC officials at various levels also attended the event through video conferencing.

Underground Cable (North-1) and NOCS Ramna of DPDC got the 'Best office' award in recognition of their outstanding contribution to uninterrupted power supply. A documentary on customer service was also screened where customers were informed about the various digital activities and services of DPDC.
