The fossil fuel we use in Bangladesh is very poor quality and the main cause of air pollution in our country is the use of poor quality fossil fuel.

The fossil fuel used in Dhaka city has sulfur levels that are almost 10 times higher than international standards.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said this in response to reporters' questions after laying the foundation stone of a new building of a government primary school in capital's Dhanmondi area on Wednesday. Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh was present as the chief guest in this event.

In response to a question from journalists about air pollution, Mayor Taposh said, "We have seen that the sulfur content of Europe's fossil fuels is below 15 ppm.

In our country it is above 50 ppm. In some cases it exceeds 500 ppm. They are very unhealthy and very harmful for human beings. We want to get rid of it”.

Stating that the South City is continuing the necessary activities to control dust, the mayor said, we are working according to the schedule for dust control. Our dust control activities are ongoing.
