Deputy Commissioner of Narsingdi and District Magistrate Dr Badiul Alam on Friday said stern legal action will be taken against presiding officers if they show any bias in the upcoming elections to two upazilas of the district. The upcoming Upazila polls will be free, fair and impartial.
He said district and police administrations will take all necessary measures to ensure fair upazila elections.
The deputy commissioner made the remarks while exchanging views with the presiding officers at a meeting organised by Palash Upazila administration at the Upazila Conference Room on the occasion of the sixth Upazila Parishad elections.
Elections to Narsingdi Sadar and Palash Upazilas will be held on May 8.
Dr Badiul Alam said stern action will be taken if anyone violates the electoral code of conduct.
Palash Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Shahidullah chaired the view exchange meeting while Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Md Mostafizur Rahman PPM, District Election and Returning Officer Md Rabiul Alam, Palash Upazila Election and Assistant Returning Officer Md Jibon Ibne Masum and Palash Thana Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Iktiar Uddin, among others, spoke at the programme.
