Elections to two upazilas of the district were held peacefully amid much enthusiasm on Wednesday.
People cast their votes for their favourite candidates in the elections to Damurhuda and Jibannagar upazilas. The voting began at 8:00am and continued till 4:00pm without any break.
Although the number of voters was less in the morning, it increased gradually. However, more women voters cast their votes in the morning.
District Election Officer and Returning Officer Md Motawakkil Rahman said six-tier security measures were taken to ensure security during the upazila elections.
Superintendent of Police in Chuadanga RM Fayzur Rahman said members of law enforcement agencies tried their best to hold the elections in a free and fair manner.
Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner Dr Kissinger Chakma said voting in two upazilas of the district was held in a peaceful manner.
District Election Office sources said the number of polling centres is 96 in Damurhuda upazila while it is 62 in Jibannagar upazila of the district.
