An on duty police constable was killed in a road accident in Chhonpara area under Araihazar police station on Wednesday noon.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Gofor,42, man of Jamalpur district and was a constable of Narayanganj traffic police.
Killed constable was on duty on Dhaka-Narayanganj highway and all of a sudden a Dhaka bound Shohag bus hit him.
Colleagues and locals rescued injured constable Gafor and rushed in a nearby private hospital where an on duty physician declared him dead.
Police seized the bus but the driver managed to escape from the scene.
Officer in Charge of Araihazar police station Md. Ahsanullah said that the legal procedure would be taken.
