Police submit charge sheet against 25 accused in Buet student Abrar murder case

Detective Branch of Police on Wednesday submitted charge sheet to the court pressing charges against 25 accused in the BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case.  

Investigation officer MD Wahiduzaman submitted the charge sheet to Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka at around 12:30 yesterday. Police so far have arrested 21 accused after filing the case.

The accused are Mehedi Hasan Russel, Md Anik Sarker, Ifti Mosharraf Sokal, Md Mehedi Hasan Robin, Md Mehtaful Islam Zeon, Muntasir Alam Jemy, Khandaker Tabakkharul Islam Tanvir, Md Muzahidur Rahman, Myhtasim Fuad, Md Moniruzzaman Monir, Md Akash Hossain, Hossen Mohammad Toha, Md Mazedul Islam, Shamim Billah, Moyaj Abu Hurayra, ASM Nazmus Sadat, Istiaq Ahmed Munna, Amit Saha, Md Mizanur Rahman alias Mizan, Shamsul Arefin Rafat and SM Mahmud Setu.

Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of BUET, died after he was mercilessly beaten allegedly by some Chhatra League activists at Sher-e-Bangla hall of the university on early hours of October 7.

Amid protest on the campus, BUET authorities on 11 October last banned all political activities on the campus and suspended 19 students, mostly leaders of the university’s BCL unit, accused in Abrar Fahad killing case.
