Police strictly inspect 14-day lockdown in Gopalganj

In Gopalganj, the district law enforcement forces are in a strict position to implement the two-week lockdown announced by the government from the morning of Friday (July 23).

To this end, Gopalganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Ayesha Siddiqa remained at the city's Launch Ghat check post, BSIC Industrial City Bridge, Gatepara Road building check post, Police Line More, Bedgram-Bishwaroad and Ghonapara check post from morning till noon on Saturday, the second day of the lockdown.

She stopped rickshaws, motorbikes, easy bikes and cars coming to the city from different villages and identified the passengers and questioned the specific reason for going out on the road. 

People who are only involved in emergency services or have come to town to seek medical attention were only allowed to cross the check posts whereas, people moving around unnecessarily were sent back home.

Later, SP Ayesha Siddiqa visited various alleys of Gopalganj town to see if any shops were open defying the lockdown. At that time, the police super told the media that the level of infection and death rate due to corona in Gopalganj is increasing day by day and has become a cause for concern. 

 Even then, people are cooperating to increase the health risks by going out of their houses unnecessarily every day on various pretexts without fully complying with the health guidelines, she added. 

So the police members are trying everywhere to reduce the movement of people out of the house unnecessarily by enforcing the law. To this end, all the officers and members of Gopalganj District Police have been faithfully performing their professional duties from dawn to dusk every day, she said.

 The police super expressed satisfaction over the proper performance of the duties and responsibilities of the law enforcement officers and members on duty at the check post and gave them various directions to implement the lockdown.

 Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Mohammad Abdur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Nihad Adnan Taiyan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mohammad Khairul Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Mohammad Monirul Islam, OC (Investigation) Shital Pal and others were present at the time.
