‘Police recovers stolen gold ornaments from temple in Patiya’

Chattogram district police have recovered the stolen gold ornaments from the 700-year-old Sri Sri Burakali mata Temple of Dhalghat Union of Patiya Upazila in Chattogram.

 On Friday afternoon, a pond on the side of the road in Nandarkhil area of the Upazila was recovered from the bank.

Chattogram District Police Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Sudipta Sarkar said, 'Due to the strict action of the police, the accused could not escape with the stolen gold ornaments;  forced to leave  The religiously sensitive matter is being seriously investigated by the police.  We can quickly arrest the responsible people.

 On January 14, a heinous theft took place at the ancient Sri Sri Burakali mata temple at Dhalghat in Patia upazila.  Unidentified thieves entered the temple by breaking the iron door on the northern side of the temple and stole the crown and ornaments of Burakali idol.  Apart from this, the thieves also broke the temple offering box and took cash.  In this incident, a case was filed against the unknown accused at Patiya police station on the same day.

 Temple priest Sagar Chakraborty said, after receiving information from a local youth, I went to the spot along with the police.  These gold ornaments were abandoned.  It looks like someone tried to burn them.  But I identified it by looking at the crown of the statue.  How much gold ornaments have been recovered can be said after verification.  The recovered gold ornaments are in police custody.
