Police outpost to be set up at remote Rajshahi Char

A police Outpost will be set up at the remote Charland across the Padma at Char Majardiar village under Rajshahi Metropolitan Police. 

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissoiner Abu Kalam Siddique declared to set up the Police Outpost on the face of demand from the people of Char Majardiar village during the Beat Policing Meeting being held at the plaground of Majardiar Nabinagar Government Primary School on Monday last. 11 Deputy Commssioners of Police under RMP also attended the meeting, among others. 

The proposed Police Outstation at frontier, char village at Majardiar will be the firstever Police outstation on any charland under Rajshahi district. 

Char Majardiar, with a resident of 12,000, is situated just across the Rajshahi city under ward-1 of Haripur union of Paba upazila under RMP. 

In the Beat Policing Meeting, Abul Hossain Kuran, President of Ward-1 Awami League informed, no police used to visit the char village except for the investigation of any case. As a result, smuggling of drugs increased in the village. Now, the menace of smuggling has been decreased but a Police Outpost at the village will completely stop smuggling of any sort of drug from across the border.  

Bazley Rezbi Al hasanMunjil. Chairman of Haripur Union Parishad informed, the frontier char village was once a haven for drug peddlers but now it has been decreased. He, however, vowed to make the village free of drug menace and that is why a Police Outpost is urgently needed at the village.

RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique informed, he has already instructed the concerned Deputy Commissioner to select a site for setting up a police outpost at Char Majardiar village. 

The Police Outpost will be set up as soon as the site is selected. He also said, people of Char Majardiar village will enjoy the same facility that the people of other places under RMP enjoy. 

He also requested the villagers to boycott the drug peddlers and said there is no concesssion for the drug peddlers. He pledged for building concrete roads, densure treatment facility and education facilities for char inhabitants. The inhabitants of the char village also pledged by hoisting their hands not to be involved with the drug peddling. 

Presided over by Deputy Commissioner of Kasiadnaga Zone Arefin Jwel, the function was conducted by Officer-in-charge of Kornohar PS Anwar Ali Tuhin and was attened, among others, by Additional Commissioner of RMP Sujayet Islam, Depty Commissioner of Police Rashidul Hasan, Sajid Hossain, Damkura PS Officer-in-charge Majharul Islam, Kasiadanga PS OC SM Masud Parvez.
