Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy said the police are not policymakers, they only try to implement policies.  In order to maintain law and order in an area, all concerned should come forward along with the police.

In recent times, youth gangs were discussed.  The police finally acted.  The job of the police is to arrest and put the wrongdoers in jail.  However, before coming to this stage, you have to think about it.  If a student is absent from his or her class, their whereabouts should be monitored.  At first, they escape from classes and get close to another bad guy.  Later, they get involved in bad deeds.  The family has to play an important role in this regard, he added.

The CMP Commissioner said this while taking to journalists at the PHP VIP Lounge of Chattogram Press Club on Tuesday.

Chattogram Press Club President Salahuddin Md Raza presided over the event and General Secretary of the press club Debdulal Bhowmik delivered the welcome address.

Krishna Pada Roy said many of you know my first profession was journalism.  If I hadn't joined the police force, I might still have been a journalist.  I was very touched when the people of that profession honoured me with honorary life membership of Chattogram Press Club.  During my duty as police commissioner in Chattogram, I got the support of various levels of journalists.  Chattogram Metropolitan Police are always with journalists.

He also said politics has no place in Chattogram Metropolitan Police. Everyone should work from their own place.  CMP Police are always trying to do good work.  Even if the police do good work, there is a tendency to blame the police.

Chattogram Press Club President Salahuddin Md Reza said that Krishna Pada Roy is a close person to the journalists of Chattogram.  We are pleased to confer on him the Honorary Life Membership of Chattogram Press Club.  He is known to the people of Chattogram as a friendly police officer. His prudence and professional mentality are mainly behind the normal law and order situation prevailing in the Chattogram.

Chattogram Press Club General Secretary Debdulal Bhowmik said Krishna Pada Roy is an exceptionally kind and responsible man.  Smart officers like him are the wealth of Bangladesh. The way he strengthened the liaison between police and journalists in Chattogram is exemplary.

Joint Secretary Shahidullah Shahriar moderated the discussion.  Chattogram Press Club Senior Vice President Chowdhury Farid, former General Secretary Farooq Iqbal, DC (South) Mostafizur Rahman, Chattogram Press Club Executive member Jashim Chowdhury Sabuj and heroic freedom fighter Manjurul Alam Manju, senior journalists Shafiul Alam and Nurul Alam also spoke on the occasion.

Krishna Pada Roy was presented with the Chattogram Press Club Honorary Life Member Award and floral greetings at the event. Many journalists and police officials were present there.
