Rabbi Bhuiyan (28), a police constable, was killed on the spot in the border area of Chandnaish and Satkania upazilas of Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway on Thursday.
Another constable named Arafat (28) was injured at the time. They both are members of Dohazari Highway Police.
When contacted, Highway Police’s Senior Assistant Superintendent Mohammad Farhad told Bangladesh Post that police were setting up a check post in front of Dohazari Highway Police Station and searching vehicles at the time of the accident.
A Chittagong-bound passenger microbus was coming from Cox's Bazar, when the police members signaled the driver to stop.
Disobeying the signal, the car crushed as it left. Constable Mohammad Rabbi died on the spot while Constable Arafat was injured.
