Police arrest 2 with Phensedyl after accident

Police have recovered 81 bottles of Phensedyl from the bodies of two youths injured in a road accident at Jibannagar in Chuadanga district.

A case has been registered under the Narcotics Act at Jibannagar Police Station around 10 am on Tuesday. Earlier, the incident took place at around 11 pm on Monday at Peeratala Fultala intersection in Jibannagar Upazila. According to police, two youths lost control of their motorcycle and pushed a woman at Peeratala Fultala intersection in Jibannagar Upazila on Monday night. All three were seriously injured. When they went to rescue them, the locals informed the police after seeing Phensedyl in the bodies of the two youths.

Upon receiving the news, the police reached the spot and recovered 61 bottles of Phensedyl from their bodies. All three of them were taken to Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex. When their condition deteriorated, the doctors referred the two youths to Sadar Hospital and the woman to Kushtia Medical College. The injured were identified as Shiplab Hossain, 20, son of Abdul Momin of Sultanpur village in Damurhuda upazila, Al Amin, 22, son of Rafiqul Islam of Rangiarpota village in Sadar upazila and Punara Begum, 40, wife of Sohel Rana of Manoharpur village in Jibannagar upazila.

Jibannagar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Khaleq said a case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotics Control Act this morning. They will be taken to court as soon as they recover.

He further said that the two youths were going to Khulna from Akundbaria or Shialmari area on a motorcycle with Phensedyl hidden in a special form on their body.
