The 117th birth anniversary of Jasimuddin, popularly known as ‘Palli Kabi’, was observed in Faridpur on Wednesday. Different organisations, including District Administration, Jasim Foundation, Faridpur Literacy and Cultural Development Organization, Ansar Uddin High School, District FF Parliament, paid homage to the poet by placing wreath at the poet's grave at Ambikapur under Faridpur Sadar upazila in the morning.
Later, a discussion was held with ADC (General) Roksana Rahman in the chair. It was addressed, among others, by DC Atul Sarker, Police Super Md Alimujjaman, and Principal of Rajendra College Prof Mosharrof Ali.
Jasimuddin was born at Domrakandi under Kaijuri union of Faridpur on January 1 in 1903. He died on March 13 in 1976 and was buried near his ancestral home at Gobindapur, Faridpur.
