The national phase of Notun Kuri Sports 2025–26 will conclude on Monday, with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman scheduled to attend the closing ceremony at the Army Stadium in Dhaka.
The final day of the competition will feature the boys’ and girls’ football finals as well as the boys’ and girls’ 100-metre sprint finals.
The closing ceremony will begin at 3:30pm, with the prime minister attending as the chief guest. State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque will chair the programme.
The prime minister is expected to arrive at the venue at 4:00pm, where he will watch the second half of the girls’ football final between Rajshahi and Rangpur. He will also witness the 100-metre sprint finals.
The programme will include a documentary screening and a dance performance by child artistes based on the theme song of Notun Kuri Sports 2025–26.
Youth and Sports Secretary Md Mahbub-ul-Alam will deliver the welcome address, followed by remarks from State Minister Aminul Haque. The prime minister will deliver the keynote speech and distribute prizes among the winners.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the regional phase of the inaugural Notun Kuri Sports on May 2 at Sylhet District Stadium. Around 170,000 athletes aged 12 to 14 from across the country’s upazilas and districts took part in eight sporting disciplines.
The national phase was later held at different venues in Dhaka. Promising athletes identified through the competition have already been shortlisted for advanced training.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports plans to enrol selected participants at various campuses of the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) to develop them into athletes capable of competing at international levels.
The initiative aims to encourage children’s participation in sports and nurture future sporting talent.
