PM Sheikh Hasina fulfilling Bangbandhu’s dream: Zaheed Farooque

State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque said that the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to establish Bangladesh as ‘Sonar Bnagla’. He built the country on a strong foundation. Today, his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to fulfill that dream. Her bet is to use every moment of every day for human beings. She is moving forward with the conviction of making the dream of the father of the nation a success. Bangladesh today is a role model of development to the world, a dignified country Bangladesh. She is today recognized as a person of special honor to world state heroes. Under her leadership, by 2030, Bangladesh will be an upper middle income country and by 2041, we will be able to reach Qatar, a prosperous country like other big countries of the world.

The state minister said this while laying foundation stone of development work and distributing winter clothes in different unions of Barisal Sadar Upazila under LGD held at Ballubari Bakery pole of Kashipur Union of Barisal Sadar Upazila on Thursday.

State Minister Zaheed Farooque said that In the past years, especially during the BNP rule, no development work was done in Barisal city. The development has been their own. They were busy developing themselves. The state minister questioned why those who did not have any initiative in the development of the area were elected as members of parliament by their votes. Earlier, TR, Kabikha and other projects did not help in any development of the area, no work has been done on road ghats for the development of individuals. They have shared among themselves.

The state minister said that after a year, people will be able to realize the development in all the unions of Barisal Sadar Upazila. Because development will be understood when the work of ongoing and new projects is completed. Development is not waiting for the request of the leaders. The development work of Barisal Sadar will be zone based. He asked them to take a picture of what needs to be done in any area and submit it within the next fortnight. He will take a project for the development of Barisal after seeing them. The state minister expressed hope that work on the project would start from next year. No area will be deprived of development. All upazilas will be developed simultaneously in all unions. Special development projects are being taken for the development of Barisal.

The state minister further said that tube wells will be installed to meet the demand for safe drinking water to solve the water problem. No one has taken effective steps to alleviate the water shortage in the city before. During the BNP rule, canals have been closed and roads have been constructed. 6 canal projects are being taken to alleviate water shortage in the city. If the project is passed within a month, there will be no water dam in Barisal city in future.

LGED Executive Engineer Sharif Md Jamal Uddin, BCCB Director Alamgir Khan Alo, Barisal Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Moniruzzaman, Upazila Vice Chairman Advocate Mahbubur Rahman Madhu, Barisal Metropolitan Islam Nizam, joint convener Mahmudul Haque Khan Mamun, members of different wards and leaders of Awami League and its affiliates were present.

It may be mentioned that the state minister inaugurated 11 works (schemes) in 5 unions of Sadar upazila at a cost of Tk 17 crore 54 lakh on Thursday.
