As a special gift from Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, a total of 120 helpless families in six unions of Mongla got semi-detached houses.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Mongla Rahat Mannan handed over the nameplate of the houses built by the beneficiaries at the Upazila Officers Club on Sunday morning.
Beneficiaries including Mongla Upazila Project Implementation Officer Nahiduzzaman, Upazila Engineer Bijan Kumar Kumar Das, UP Chairman Mollah Tariqul Islam, Gazi Akbar Hossain were present at the occasion.
Upazila Nirbahi Md. Rahat Mannan said, one hundred and twenty thousand houses have been constructed under the supervision of the upazila administration at the cost of one lakh and twenty thousand taka as a special gift of the Prime Minister among the helpless families.
He said there are still many poor people in Mongla upazila. Their houses will be constructed if they are allotted in stages.
